Mount & Blade by Taleworlds Entertainment was a cult hit when it first came out in 2008. The success helped to spawn Mount & Blade Warband, the expansion which introduced a lot of new features such as the creation of your own kingdom and marriage in 2010. Since then, we’ve seen Mount & Blade with Fire and Sword in 2011, a spin-off that was more story based game set in Eastern Europe in the 17th century, and the multiplayer-only Napoleonic Wars in 2012.

Viking Conquest's multiplayer is a true contest of your Dark Age combat prowess, pitting your skills against other players in all-new game modes. Raise allied morale by blowing horns and waving standards that produce real gameplay effects, before going berserk and devastating your foes! Ever since then, news and releases of new Mount & Blade products have been quiet ever since its split away from Paradox Interactive, with some whispers about the development of the direct sequel to the original Mount & Blade: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlords, which isn’t slated to be ready for at least another year. And while the strong mod community is still quite active, there has definitely been clamoring for a new game. Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest is that game.

Being developed by both Taleworlds Entertainment and Brytenwalda, one of the more complex and oldest mods for Mount & Blade, Viking Conquest will be big. With 21 nations and 6 different cultures, this will easily be Taleworld’s biggest game to date with a map that covers the British Isles, Frisia, Norway and Denmark.

A major addition to gameplay will be being able to own and pilot a ship across the seas and having sea battles. Add in 300 cities and castles, hundreds of historical figures, 15 possible companions, religion playing a big part and vikings and you will find that Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest is shaping up to be a very interesting game indeed.

Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest will be available on PC sometime in December of this year.
